Baby Shower Games? Did someone say games!?…I mean baby shower games.
Generally who doesn’t love playing games but as fun as they are sometimes it’s the last thing on our minds. We all have friends and family that will be coming to this joyous day that are in different phases in their lives some are still looking for that loving partner, and others have dedicated their time to their careers or even those who have already popped out their bundles of joy.
But because you love them all anyway, you want them there on that momentous occasion, yes your baby shower. A gathering of your loved ones, a day of laughter, of unconditional support… the list can go on. But it’s not easy to plan this day, sometimes it can be somewhat stressful. Don’t worry we got you covered!
A little bit of bubbly can sparkle the day or up even better, baby shower games. A time honoured tradition that is bound to break the tension and liven up the day.
Most of all let’s take a look at some of the silliest, creative and certainly the most fun Baby Shower games for you to play…
1.Baby’s First Portrait
How to play: Give all party guests an index card and a washable marker (just in case they hit skin), and have them put a card on their forehead. Set a timer for 60 seconds and get them to draw what they think your baby will look like. The mom-to-be selects the scribble, um portrait, she likes best.
2.Play-Doh Babies
How to play: In small cups (think: Dixie from the old days), give everyone a few different coloured blobs of Play Doh. They then have 15 minutes to create the cutest baby they can. For more fun, lay out some pencils, plastic knives and toys that’ll help them get creative. Mama selects the winner!
3.Baby in an Ice Cube
How to play: The night before the shower, freeze small plastic babies (you can find them at any party story). When guests arrive, everyone gets one frozen ice cube baby in their drink. When the ice cube has completely melted, have guests yell “My water broke!” The first to follow-through and call it, wins!
4.Feed the Daddy
How to play: If you’re having a mixed shower, blindfold the ladies and have them feed their partners baby food. Seems simple enough? Think again—when there’s music, laughing and you can’t exactly get your aim right, we bet hubs is going to end up with mushy peas on his nose.
5.Drink up, Baby
How to play: Whether you’re planning a daring couple’s shower or a tame for-all-ages party, this game is always a hilarious hit. Fill baby bottles with the beverage of your choice-beer for the guys at a grown-ups’ party and apple juice for the kids at a family baby shower. Then, give everyone a bottle and on the count of three they must suck the bottles dry as quickly as possible. The first person to down the contents of his or her bottle wins.
6.Late-Night Diaper Notes
How to play: Buy a mega box of diapers. Have guests write funny quotes, words of encouragement, inside jokes—anything!—on the back of the diapers, or they can just pop in a post it note. (Permanent marker is just fine and won’t bleed through to Baby’s tushy, don’t worry!)
7.Don’t Say Baby!
How to play: When guests arrive, stick 5 clothespins to them with one important instruction: don’t say “baby!” If they hear other guests say the word, they get to take one of their clothespins. The person with the most stuck to them by the end of the shower, wins a gift! (Be sure to organise a gift beforehand)
8.Onesie Decoration Station
How to play: Buy a big pack of white onesies (they’ll sure need them!) and some fabric paint or markers and have guests go at it. For some extra inspiration, provide stencils and details about the nursery so guests can match the theme.
9.Baby Shower Price is Right
How to play: Lay out some of the gifts off of her registry and some common everyday baby items, like diapers, cream, etc. Have guest come up and try to guess the price. The person who gets the closest—without going over!—wins!
10.Guess the food?
How to play: If you’ve ever thought that baby food in jars looks less like the ‘peas’ or ‘carrots’ they purport to be and more like miscellaneous mush, this is the game for you. Gather seven to ten unique flavours of baby food jars, number each lid and tear off the labels. Ask each guest to grab a spoon and start sampling! The guest with the keenest taste buds wins a prize for getting the most correct.
11.Diaper Derby
How to play: On your mark, get set, go! Divide your guests into teams and hand each team a roll of toilet paper. Give the teams five minutes to wrap a team member up in a mock diaper. The team with the most creatively diapered ‘baby’ wins. There’s something so outrageously funny about grown adults in hastily assembled toilet paper diapers-your guests won’t be able to stop laughing!
